Dr. Leonard performs upper-arm liposuction to remove stubborn fat deposits and refine the arm’s contour, using small, discreet entry points typically concealed near the armpit and the back of the elbow. When appropriate, adjacent areas such as the shoulder, axillary roll, upper back, lateral chest or breast roll, forearm (in selected cases), and the back of the elbow may be contoured during the same procedure to improve overall proportion. In cases where loose, overhanging skin—commonly referred to as “bingo wings”—is the primary concern, excess skin is removed using a carefully planned elliptical excision, with the incision running from the back of the elbow along the inner-posterior arm toward the armpit. Scar placement and length are meticulously designed to remain as discreet as possible while achieving a smooth, tight contour. Following liposuction, residual skin laxity may persist, particularly after significant weight changes; in such cases, a combined approach (lipo-brachioplasty) addresses both excess volume and skin laxity in a single, structured plan for a firmer, sleeker result. Achieving symmetry requires precise planning and surgical judgment, as uneven removal of skin or fat can lead to contour irregularities or size discrepancies. Through experienced technique and strategic tissue handling, Dr. Leonard works to minimise and conceal scars—often directing tension toward the armpit—while recognising that in patients with substantial excess skin or fat, complete concealment may not always be possible.
